Look forThe slices sit in a cloudy, juicy syrup.

  3. Stir in the lemon juice.

  4. Divide the syrup and slices among 6 glasses of crushed ice. Top each with a cup of soda water and stir. Taste; a pinch more salt should make it pop.

Notes

Traditional chanh muối uses limes or lemons cured in salt for weeks. This quick version gives you the salty-sour flavor tonight.

Tavern Night

This dish's twist table (d6)

1–2The classic stands. No twist. Cook it as written.
3Herb swap. Add a sprig of mint to each glass
4Acid strike. Use limes instead of lemons, as many Vietnamese cafés do
5Plating challenge. Serve the syrup in a jar so players mix their own
6Host's boon. The Host picks any twist above, or the table invents one. The safety rule still applies.

Roll before you start cooking. No twist ever changes a time, a temperature or how done something must be.
